Our Student Charter explains what you can expect from Adult Education Wolverhampton and what we expect from you in return.
We will provide you with:
- a friendly, supportive, caring and safe place to learn
- equality, respect and accessible services
- impartial information, advice and guidance about courses and careers suited to your needs
- support if you report discrimination, harassment, bullying, abuse or hate crime
- information about financial help
- an assessment of your learning needs
- extra support and equipment if you need this to achieve your learning goals
- courses to meet your needs
- an induction to our service and your course
- your individual learning plan
- high quality teaching delivered by qualified and experienced staff
- high quality learning resources and facilities
- regular reviews of your progress
- the opportunity to tell us your views
- opportunities to celebrate and recognise your achievement
- information about your next steps
We ask you to:
- help us make your place of learning safe by complying with
health & safety and safeguarding requirements and reporting
any concerns to a member of staff
- be respectful at all times to staff and other students
- treat others with respect and consideration by:
- being ready to learn
- not being under the influence of any substances, alcohol
or drugs
- not disrupting the class so all can learn
- turning your mobile phone onto silent during lesson time
- listening to others during discussion and not talking over other people when they are expressing their point of view
or asking questions
- not raising your voice
- not being disruptive or preventing other students
from working
- following the ground rules set by the teacher and the class
- let us know if you have any disability, condition or mental health issue that may affect your learning so that we can offer support
- being punctual - arrive on time for each class
- maintain a minimum of 100% attendance and let your teacher know if you cannot attend sessions
- negotiate your learning plan and review your learning and progress with your teacher
- take note of feedback, complete all work to the best of your ability and meet completion dates
- talk to your teacher if you have any problems with the course, homework activities or target dates
- give us feedback on the course and our services
- tell us if there are any important changes to your personal details, e.g. if you move house, change your name, or change your benefit status
- not accept or participate in any form of discrimination, bullying, harassment, hate crime or extremism, and report if it happens
- respect the property of others, including that of Adult Education Wolverhampton
- work with us to value the environment and community
- no vaping or smoking on the premises
Breaking the Charter
If we break our commitment to you, tell us about it. If you break your commitment to us, we will talk to you about it. If we are concerned,
